Although individually uncommon, these disorders collectively represent some of the most severe pediatric conditions, often associated with early and profound neurological impairment.<br>The limited availability of effective treatments makes these diseases a research priority and one of the most complex challenges in modern medicine. She obtained her PhD in Molecular and Translational Medicine from the University of Milan Bicocca, working at the Molecular Neurogenetics section of the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute in Milan and at the <em>Mitochondrial Biology Unit<\/em> of the University of Cambridge (UK), where she continued her research for over four years. During this period, she worked on genetic mitochondrial disorders, identifying the function of disease-associated genes and developing <em>in vivo<\/em> pharmacological and gene therapy protocols. From 2021 to 2024, she was <em>Early-Career PI<\/em> in the European CureMILS Consortium, aimed at repositioning drugs for the treatment of maternally transmitted Leigh syndrome. She coordinates a research group studying metabolic\/mitochondrial alterations in neurodevelopment in rare genetic diseases, testing pharmacological approaches <em>in vitro <\/em>and <em>in vivo<\/em>.
